Apogee Accelerated Aging Tests

Extreme testing pyranometers
Our goal at Apogee is to provide rugged, reliable, and stable instruments that perform for years, even in extreme environments. To achieve this, we continually subject our sensors to extreme "accelerated aging" tests designed to reveal any flaws or weaknesses in the design.

One test we routinely perform is a year-long stability test where we cycle groups of 30 to 60 sensors from -20 to +60 C (-4 to 140 F) several times a day in a high humidity environment. This test simulates several years of exposure in the field and helps us evaluate new adhesives, components, and housings.

Other accelerated aging tests can include high levels of UV light, high vibration, continuous high temperature and humidity, and extended submersion in salt water.

Why do we go to such lengths? It's simple - we want our customers to know that when purchasing an Apogee product, they can be confident it will hold up to the elements. Our reputation of durability was built upon this process of testing and refinement, and is also why we can offer our industry-leading four-year warranty.
