SolData Instrument has existed continuously since September, 1979. It is a small privately owned company led by Frank Bason, Ph.D., who as a captain in the Medical Service has worked with the lasers, microwaves and light measurement at USAEHA under the US Army Surgeon General's office from 1969-1971. Since 1971 FB has taught physics and mathematics at secondary school in Denmark as well as a guest lecturer at the University of Aarhus and the Technical University of Copenhagen, and at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. During the 1980's he provided computer manuals for Commodore Computers and IBM. He has spent a sabbatical at Colorado State University. FB has regularly contributed to conferences on solar energy and he is a referee for the journal Solar Energy.
Frank Bason has been project manager for a range of projects for - among others - the Danish Ministry of Energy. He was responsible for the optics table on a round the world research expedition (Galathea III) in 2006-2007. He has also manufactured instruments - pyrheliometers and pyranometers for special applications over the years and supplied shadow bands, trackers and data loggers from various suppliers. He has also acted as consultant for 7 years with the Danish physics equipment manufacturer Frederiksen A/S which cooperates closely with PASCO Scientific.
